Maestro
It does not list any honorary consulates but Consulate General Offices only. Although we often refer to it as an honorary consulate it is the consul in charge of it who is honorary, not the consulate. It is shorter to write honorary consulate than consulate with an honorary consul in charge of it.
gjoo888
Different immigration offices have different rules. Probably the best thing you can do is to pay a visit to the immigration office where you will be applying, and ask exactly what you need to do. You definitely can convert to a retirement visa as long as you have a certain amount of days remaining on your visa or visa exemption, although you will normally get a shorter stay first to enable you to get your documentation together. As an earlier post said, it may be 15 days, but I've also heard it may be 21 days.
lopburi3
You can always convert visa exempt or visa entry to non immigrant entry in the process of retirement or Thai wife extension of stay and having time remaining on current entry. If the local office refuses to do you can visit Bangkok for that portion. The original requirement was 21 days but normally 15 or even less is accepted (since change to 15 day border visa exempt entry). But for some it may actually be easier to obtain from a border crossing and consular visit if local office will not do.

mufcsamui
Please OP let us all know how you get on so that we are all aware of the current requirements.
lopburi3
One post of false information removed. Yes a non immigrant entry can be obtained from a visa exempt entry or a tourist visa entry in the extension of stay process if you have 15 days or more remaining but sometimes this must be done in Bangkok if local office will not do and cost will be 2,000 baht.
