He must leave Thailand not later than the date shown on the entry stamp in his passport. It is the date after the text “UNTIL”.

If he wants to return to Thailand, he can again enter without visa and get a 30-day stamp on arrival, or he can go to a Thai consulate (outside Thailand) and apply for a tourist visa.

He can also get a 10 day extension at Immigration.

Apparently, he has already obtained an extension of stay (or I may have read that wrong). Of course, he can make a second application for extension and see what happens. I have seen some reports of a second extension being granted, when the applicant had a good case

I read it that he has extended his holiday in Thailand rather than extended his 30 day entry stamp.

If he has just extended his holiday and has been here 28 days he needs to get himself down immigration on monday to apply for a 10 day extension cost 1900 baht.

If he wants to stay longer than the extra 10 days he will have to nip to the border ...... go out and back in for a fresh 30 days stay.

Thats if i/m reading your post right of course.

Tell him not to overstay.

Edit............if he is going to stay longer than the extra 10 days and up to 30 days and can organise it tommorow he could always go the border on monday and obtain a fresh 30 days entry stamp......thereby saving him 1900 baht.........alternative is to go the border during the 10 day extension if he cant organise the border run for monday.

Thanks guys, he will leave tommorow night and it will be 15 miutes after the 30 day period so i dont think it should be a problem.I thought he was over the 30 day period by x amount of days.Do you think it would be an issue seeing it is only 15 minutes after the 30 day period when his plane leaves or do you think he should still get down to immigration for the 10 day extention,? Do you no what the fines may be if he has any trouble with this ? thanks very much guys

The immigration offices are closed on weekends. Therefore, he no longer has the option of applying for an extension.

It depends how you count his 30 days. What really matters are not the 30 days, but the date stamped in his passport. If that date is tomorrow’s date, 19 March 2006, and his flight is at 00.15 hours on 20 March, you friend has nothing to fear. He will get to the airport and through immigration control before midnight on 19 March: no risk of arrest and deportation.

Reports here have always said that Immigration grants 1 day’s grace period, i.e. no fine for overstaying one day. If this grace period should no longer be allowed, Immigration will collect a fine of 500 Baht.

Grace period was still in effect as of 5th March.............i went through Immigration and they had signs up advising of both the grace period and the upcoming price increases for overstay.
