salavan
i know anzac day is about australia and new zealaland but being british and attending the service got me thinking about what a english man who was a japanese pow said to me, he felt that the english pow"s and troops died in vain due to the post war polititians such as thatcher and more recently blair and his side kick brown and now continuing the trend osbourn and cameron selling the country out, if i were a member of the goverment i would feel to embarased and ashamed to attend such memorial sevices, lets face it it politicians that start these wars and then expect other people to die for them while they sit in their comfortabe chair's behing their big desk. Popular Post impulse
Just a friendly bump to the top, and wishing our Aussie and Kiwi Cousins a great Anzac Day. Wish I could make the ceremonies in KBuri, but work keeps getting in the way of life... http://www.thailand.embassy.gov.au/files/bkok/ANZAC%20DAY%202014%20in%20Thailand%20-%20Public%20Notice.pdf

Many ANZAC's and allied troops died along side Thai nationals during Thailand's Japanese atrocities in WW2. The bridge over the river Kwai and Death Railway was built by these poor soles (RIP). Who cares about ANZAC Day??? I'll be buying a beer and toasting their honor. As for you. I wouldn't go mentioning that comment too loud. You may find more than just farangs wanting a piece of you on a day that still has the ability to open old wounds. Whooray for Gerald, Whooray at last, Whooray for Gerald for he's a monkeys arse. ANZAC Day is for the troops and those who lost their lives. Every single one of them. Let us have our day because as history states, Britain was prepared to let Australia and ultimately New Zealand fall. Don't pollute it with your modern day political views.

Bucko
Bucko, shivers sent down ones spine. I have never heard that Redgum song. yes a chilling reminder of that ww1 killing field. p.s-- never been to "your" beach--maybe next time ---any guest houses or reasonably priced hotels on or near the beach ?--sometimes I like to take time out at a quiet place. Even; selfish individuals that embrace an entitlement society which lets others foot the bill. An utter disgrace and shame on you. Jerry

Popular Post IMA_FARANG
Slightly different topic, but..... I'm American .... my grandfather was in WWI (2nd U.S. unit to go to France in 1917). His sons,(my Uncles) were in WWII as was my father. A younger Uncle went to Korea. I was in Vietnam. A niece of mine (yes female) lost both her eardrums in Iraq to an IED (thank God for microsurgery and artificial eardrums that can be implanted now). A cousin of mine (male) committed suicide due to PSTD a few years after he left Vietnam. He had nerve damage from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam. I was married to a Vietnamese woman and had adopted a Vietnamese daughter. Neither of them made it out of Saigon in 1975. I still don't know why but my family has definitely paid it's dues over the years. As Kurt Vonnegat says, "And so it goes".
