if we win this one tonight we go into december three ahead of chelsea and eight ahead of the glams. if you'd told me that back in the summer i'd not have believed you. big test of how qualified we are to win the title though, take advantage of your rivals' slip-up and win your home bankers. we blew it against fulham so can't afford another one.

HUGELY fuc_king annoying that was. no bottle and no belief, remove torres from the side and we just lack a goal threat. it's this lack of ruthlessness that'll cost us the title.

robbie keane is pissing me off something chronic too.

Don't mean to rub salt in the wound Stevie but SAF did say 20 million for Robbie???

Anyways, look at it this way, at the start of the year if I said on December 3 you'd be in first place, I think you would take it.

Kind of sensed we would only get a draw last night... it is so frustrating to see we cant get 3 points at home again as that would of been a great confidence boost.

Unfortunately we still struggle in the last third to finish of teams that defend deep at home. Credit to West Ham as they did play well and surprised me a bit like Fulham's performance. The bigger problem is teams surely will be more confident they can get a result when they come to Afield now.

Very happy to be top! :o and as long as we can stay up there to the end we still have a great chance. Thankfully the other 3 are not looking that constant also this year,

Crap way to go top of the league. Hated that match. Must turn it around now. But hey, everyone, Liverpool is top of the league! Just have to get that goal scoring touch back. I have confidence they can do it, but the team is not looking ruthless. Only time will tell, let's not try and predict the future.

it's frustrating but then any team would miss torres. without him our attack lacks a focal point and we struggle to adapt. he'd have created two or three chances out of nothing against the hammers and probably taken at least one of them.

still top of the league though after fifteen matches and wouldn't swap places with anyone. one game at a time remains the mantra.

so?

I just thought you would like a little of your own medicine, you go on about how he is a Football God and like to spend time on the United forum labelling CR this and that, well two can play at that game. :o

Liverpool hit by Torres setback

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres looks set for an increased injury lay-off because of a damaged hamstring.

Torres, 24, had been expected to be out of action for two weeks but has now been told by specialists that he will be out for at least four weeks.

The Spaniard suffered the injury during the Champions League victory against Marseille at Anfield on 26 November.

"We first said two to three weeks but do not want to put a time on it now," said Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

"He will come back when he is ready. We will not rush him back.

"We want to resolve this problem once and for all and we will make sure we do that."

o.gif606: DEBATE All I want for Christmas is for Fernando to get fit!

SteveFernieTorres has been plagued by hamstring problems over the past 18 months, suffering the injury five times in that period.

Liverpool are currently analysing his training schedule with both club and country in an attempt to resolve the problem.

Benitez had questioned the Spain training regime and believes it could be the cause of his injury.

"He has been injured now three times while with the national team and it is something we have to analyse," he stated.

"We knew they were doing something that is maybe not the best for the player."

It had been hoped he would return by mid December but Torres will now miss Premier League games against Blackburn, Hull, Arsenal and Bolton and Tuesday's Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven.

He could return for the trip to Newcastle on 28 December.

Liverpool have struggled in recent weeks in the absence of last season's top scorer, with new signing Robbie Keane still finding his form since his £20m move from Tottenham in the summer.

The Reds currently top the Premier League but have drawn their last two home games without scoring a goal.

Torres himself is committed to returning to the side to boost their title credentials. He said: "The only thing to do is to get on with the rehabilitation and make sure that I come back when I am ready and not too soon."

Raffa publicly said he wasn't interested in signing Owen...hey you never know? we definitely need some one clinical in front of goal.

We keep being linked with Heskey also. Hesky would certainly give us another option and also suits Keane's style I think... Keane is obviously a second striker playing of the shoulder of the main striker.

Torres - This is a big problem and as you said... On the bright side we played ok (not great) without Torres. Pressure will be on Keane if it wasn't already.I still have faith in him coming good :o .

Just how many strikers has Benitez bought in the past four years, and they lost form almost immediately after signing?

Keane is just the latest in a long line of "failures" in a red shirt

The NEXT signing should be a manager, as i feel Benitez has taken the team as far as he can, is too defensive minded, and tactics obsessed.

Results like the other night are the ones that you look back on come May, and think what might have been season wise.

Truth hurts, does it?

And, before you start, yes i AM a liverpool supporter and have been for over 40 years

Now in answer to your "fuc_king ridiculous" claim heres a few FACTS, and are just the ones off the top of my head, but i cant be arsed finding the many more examples

List of strikers: Anelka, Bellamy, Morientes, Kuyt, Voronin, etc, etc, most of whom were bought at a premium, and then resold at a loss

Even the players bought in as wingers like Pennent, Babel, Benayoun and Riera look like they no longer "enjoy" their football

I think he has bought nearly 60 players in his 4 year tenure so far.......and always moaned about the purse strings being too lean, <deleted> !!!!!

All the sheer joy of the game seems to have been coached out of the players. Benitez stands on the touchline like a tic-tac man, waving his arms about to puzzled players.

THAT'S no way to inspire a team to greatness

NOW who's being fuc_king ridiculous ??????

truth my arse, you haven't a clue what you're talking about. you want facts?

1. we never signed anelka so we could never sell him.

2. kuyt's still at the club.

3. voronin's on loan, hasn't been sold. oh and he was a free signing, we didn't pay anything for him.

4. we sold bellamy for a profit.

are you a mind-reader out of interest? just wondered how you could possibly know what a player's feelings are from halfway across the world and through a television. that's some skill. riera's given a press conference this season stating how happy he is at the club by the way. maybe he was lying and you're right.

we've had our best start to a premier league season ever, we're top of the fuc_king league in december and we've beaten man united and chelsea already this term. every single player who was at the club when benitez arrived is now a better player and he's brought in some fantastic additions. reina, alonso, agger, skrtel, mascherano and torres would grace any squad in the world. two european cup finals in his first three seasons, winning the first one with such luminaries as djimi traore and milan baros in the side. and you want to replace him.

you're either a wind-up merchant or an idiot, i'm not 100% sure which just yet.

Penkoprod...

Wow, didn't know there were many Liverpool fans not happy with Raffa...news to me really!!! but all the same always good to hear peoples views.

Sure mangers have to produce... but so far I think hes done a fantastic job ! and I am proud he's our manager 110%.

A lot of signings were kind of forced on him also due to budget and availability of players, like many managers they would sign the best striker if they could... I am sure also that if Raffa wasnt here we would never ever of had Torres sign...

Also I never knew that he lost money on any signings also? you have to try players nothing is 100% guarantee a player will come good no matter the price tag? I for one had no idea Torres was going have the start he did? did you?

I thought those strikers (not many really) got sold on for good money (maybe I am wrong?)

Personally I wouldn't want any other manager for us right now and hope we extend his contract beyond 5+ years (that's my thoughts anyway).

Come on Penkoprod who would you sign as the new Liverpool manager? Interesting to know...

I am expecting a tough battle against Blackburn today... maybe Masch might play with Alonso in the middle today, leaving Stevie to play of Keane.

Come on boys lets get behind our players especially Keane... I am sure he will come good.
