(p.s stop quoting the f/wit)

What? And have my posts as unconnected as that? No thank you. I will continue to quote so people have a reference to my post, and don't think I am mad, mary

Fairynuff.

Breaking news on Sky sports is Ricky Lambert has agreed to join us for £9M.

I'm not sure about this, is this going off track a bit, or an alternative when we ain't breaking teams down? I don't know enough to comment really. Can somebody enlighten me?

A bit left-field for me also. It's now 'sky sources can reveal that LFC are close to agreeing £8m with s'ton for Lambert' ...ermm.gif

Well this is a bit of a shocker.......it surely has something to do with the lallana deal. I'm all for it. But there's no way wed pay 8-9 Mil for a 32 yr old.

This is a mates take on it..."9m for Lambert 20m for Lovren and 2m for Lallana so Bournmouth get no cut of the Lallana money. Simples

"... whistling.gif & The Echo "4m plus add ons Another million if he makes 300 appearances. "Clever that...tongue.png

Well <deleted> my old boots, this is more like it. Ricky Lambert, hey? There I was thinking CL football will bring some talent. What a statement that is. clap2.gif I guess it's a step up from Aspas. whistling.gif

If it wasn't for Rodgers talent and skills last season we'd have been wanting to tear that transfer committee a new ar-se-hole for the bag of sh-ite they brought home in the summer.

If we are going to sign Lallana and Lambert for double his worth is a sweetener deal this should not be getting out. It is once again looking like amateur night at the big top with that clown Ayre leading the line.

Although I could be wrong, but these Jack Daniels are dictating my cynicism right now..bloody tasty cynicism though

Do you honestly think that it's Ayre and not Rodgers making the decision to buy him, you seem obsessed by the fact that mangers don't have a say in who their club buys whistling.gif

Rodgers must be working a group deal with this Ricky offer. A swoop for Lallana and Lovren ? All you boys can come on over and we'll have a fine 'ol time.

I think Lambert is a fine footballer but a deal for him alone doesn't make much sense. OTOH if its only $4mil then not much skin off the hide. And, a target man for the few games where Liverpool find themselves scrambling in the end, and more importantly, added attacking options for CL play. It'll be a much longer season this time around.thumbsup.gif

brilliant option to add if we get him in. really like him.

4M for an England international, wow, brings extra depth to the squad, another option if things are not going right, what age did Sheringham play too ? seems that if your not paying 20m for a player then there not happy on this thread.

On a different point perhaps your owners are dubious of spending big after the Carroll debarcle !

didn't realise we'd let lambert go when he was a kid. what a story if he comes, back to his boyhood club.

if he signs we'll also have three of the four premier league players who got double figures for goals and assists last season.

And the best taker of PKs in the EPL.thumbsup.gif

Just for the record, Stevie. My post was a response to JacknDanny's joke about Cantona with a 'u'.

Not in response to your post about heysel.

Yes sir, even better than your designated hitter.biggrin.png

So off the wall is that transfer that I misread (jellydog's post at the top of this page) it as Lampard - reinforced by the reference to good PK recordsfacepalm.gif

Now that one would make more sense in an odd kind of way from a rotational squad-build point of view!

On second thoughts I guess Lambert is an ok'ish pick for your League and FA Cup team

Not splitting hairs here but Soldado's record last season was 100% and i don't believe a keeper even manager to touch the ball so how exactly can that be bettered?

Since joining Southampton Lambert has built up a reputation as a specialist from 12 yards. He has converted his last 34 penalties and has not missed from the spot since moving to Southampton in 2009, a record that is rivaled by few in the footballing world.

Apart from the fact that he had a very good season, he is a down to earth lad, who loves Liverpool.

For him to be given a chance with Liverpool will be a dream come true. I saw him on TV as a soccer pundit when Liverpool played, I think it was V Norwich.

You could see he was Liverpool mad.

Good buy for them I think. Fits in with what Rodgers wants.

I didn't say that Alfie, my issue is not with Rodgers identifying players, it's the next part of the process that involves Ian Ayre. Last season's windows emphasised his ineptitude at closing deals, Mkhitarayan, Salah and Kono.

This whole Lallana situation is starting to smell the same. Identify the player, strike a deal or move on. Don't faff about with miserly offers hoping to mither clubs in to submission or negotiating taking this player or that player that is not a target to save a few bob, we look like fools. Just drop it and move on or find someone who can negotiate effectively. There must be 3 or 4 targets for each signing needed.

Also the World Cup is approaching, I want to see some urgency in getting business done, including shifting player as a priority.

How do you know its not Lallana's agent stalling hoping his player has a big world cup so as to up the cost of a deal?

To be fair I mis-read the bit about Ayre letting things out, but you did say " There I was thinking CL football will bring some talent" and " transfer committee a new ar-se-hole for the bag of sh-ite they brought home in the summer" implying that Rodgers doesn't have a say !
