Docs To Take The America?

Featured Replies

I will be going to America later this month. Are there any Thai or US Consulate documents that I need to obtain in Bangkok before I attempt to get my non-immigrant O or retirement visa in Denver?

Would the requirement of obtaining a non-immigrant O to convert immediately to a retirement visa still apply if I do go through the process in America at the Royal Thai Consulate in Denver, Colorado?

Should I take with with me a certified letter from the Amererican Consulate (Embassy?) in Bangkok establishing proof of income?

I'll be in Colorado Mar 31 through Apr 10, which is when I fly back to Thailand. Hand deliver documents to the Royal Thai Consulate?

I've messed up with immigration enough that I think posting these questions is a good idea for me.

Thanks.

You will not be able to "convert" you visa overseas.

You can only apply for a new visa at a Thai embassy or consulate.

I suggest you apply for a Non Imm O visa (single entry) at a convenient consulate.

State retirement as your reason, assuming you are 50+.

You should not need any special documentation, just passport and photo,

but have a copy of your Thai bank book available in case they ask about funds

and a house rental agreement, if you have one.

Once you enter Thailand you can apply for an extension based on retirement

and at that stage you will need to show a certified income or 800k in the bank.

You obtain a single entry "O" visa and then apply for the extension of stay based on retirement here in Thailand.

Not needed in Denver but take it with you just to be 100% sure.
