World monarchs admire the grandeur of the Diamond Jubilee celebration

World monarchs have expressed admiration towards the 60th anniversary celebration on His Majesty the King’s accession to the Throne and their felicity in being parts of the event.

Government spokesperson Surapong Suebwonglee talked about the follow-up of the event after a meeting of the organizing committee on the 60th anniversary celebration chaired by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Mr. Surapong said those monarchs had expressed in their letters sent to His Majesty the King their appreciations for the Thai hospitality, as well as their admiration for the grandeur of the event.

Mr. Surapong cited the Thai Ambassador to Japan as saying that the Emperor of Japan had graciously granted him an audience for a special cup of tea as a gesture of appreciation.

The spokesman said the government will continue to celebrate the diamond jubilee by organizing the 60th anniversary exhibition in all parts of the countries and abroad. The exhibition which was originally organized at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani,had drawn six million visitors.

Similar exhibitions will be held in Chiang Mai in the North, Khon Kaen in the Northeast, Nakhon Sawan in the central region and Songkhla in the South.

They are also expected to be arranged in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and in Los Angeles, California.

DVDs, books, posters of HM the King's Diamond Jubilee celebration presented to Cabinet and high-level officials

The board responsible for organizing His Majesty the King’s Diamond Jubilee has distributed DVDs, history books, and posters of His Majesty to the Cabinet members and high-level government officials.

The chairperson of the board, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Suranand Vejjajiva, said the DVDs and history books contain the films and pictures of the celebrations of His Majesty the King’s 60th Anniversary of Accession to the Throne from June 8th to 12th, 2006. There are three types of posters of His Majesty, and they are being donated to government agencies and educational institutions. Members of the public can also keep these presents for commemoration of this historical event.

At the Cabinet meeting today, 30 sets of DVDS and history books have been presented to the Cabinet members and high-level government officials. A total of 750 posters of His Majesty the King were also distributed.
