Multiple Entry 'b' Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I'm currently in Thailand on a Non-Immigrant 'B' visa (multiple entry) This was provided by the company I am currently working at. My contract will finish soon and will not be extended. My visa is still valid till the end of this year. Is it possible that my current employer cancels the visa on the day the contract ends? Or is there no possible way for them to do this?

Thanks!

Do you actually have a multi entry visa (you have to leave Thailand every 90 days or less and return for a new 90 day stay)? If that is what you have it remains valid as has nothing to do with company once issued. Most people would be on one year extensions of stay for work and that ends the day work ends.

Yes this is the visa I have. I thought it has something to do with the company because they gave me all necessary papers to obtain it.. But in facts it does not matter if I understand correct?

Once the visa is issued it is a normal non immigrant B visa for you.

If you have a One Year Non Immigrant Category 'B' Multiple Entry Visa which would have been obtained at a Consulate outside of Thailand, then it cannot be cancelled and does not end with your employment.

However your Work Permit must be cancelled by either you or your employer.

That is exactly the visa I have! Thanks a lot all for your help!

Small, last questions..

Let's say my Visa is valid until 1st of Jan 2014.. If I fly out and come back in on let's say 29th of December does that mean I get an additional 3 months? In fact this way the visa would be valid for 15 months instead of 12..

Correct but the visa is only valid for 12 months - after that it can not be used for entry (which is what is visa is for).

Understood! It's valid for 12 months, but via this way I could literary make use of it for 15 months if I understood correctly?

That was the correct part - but you can not leave and return during those last 90 days without a re-entry permit as you can during validity of the visa.
