May 8, 201313 yr hi guys. my friend has got accident (broke knees) and can't move right now. She came in Thailand by stamp 30 days which will expired before she will recover. Is any way to extend her stamp here? How she under medical control but stay in the appartment she tried to contact with immigration but it they didn't accept her call. Please give me link on official information or topic with similar issue. best regards)
May 8, 201313 yr She needs to get a letter from the doctor saying she is unable to travel. Immigration can issue up to 90 days at a time extensions. 2.25 In the case of medical treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient: Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time. (1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician responsible for the treatment. The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for travelling. (2) In the case of looking after a patient, confirmation and request has been made by the physician responsible for the treatment or by an embassy or consulate. (3) Patient Carer, except parents, spouse, children, adopted children or children of spouse, shall be granted no more than 1 extra person.
May 8, 201313 yr If it is a doctor at a big private hopsitals, most of them have contact with immigraiton and can help her with an extension of stay.
May 8, 201313 yr She can obtain up to 3 month extension of stay for medical reasons and again if needed but will required medical statement from treating hospital/doctor (if international service they should know this) and someone will need to take to immigration (she should try to go herself to show/prove condition). Will cost 1,900 baht and normal photo and TM.7 application. Police Order 777/2551 Quote 2.25 In the case of medical treatment or convalescence or to look after a patient: Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 daysat a time. May 9, 201313 yr Depends on where she receives medical treatment. I was once in BKK hospital and they have a a special visa service to help patients with expiring visas.
May 9, 201313 yr But the extension is open to anyone and does not depend on where they receive service - the hospital doing it is the difference; not that it can be done.
May 9, 201313 yr Government hospitals won't provide much assistance for this, but private ones will. As mentioned, contact their international customer service dept. Sometimes they need to be goaded to perform their service for their patients. Please let us know if your friend will be able to visit Immigration herself and obtained treatment at a gov't hospital. If she can't go to immigration herself and went to a gov't hospital, I can provide additional pointers on how an unrelated third party can obtain a medical extension for someone. You need more documents than what's listed above for a third party to do this. Incidentally, it's imperative that the doctor's letter state the your friend cannot travel before a certain date. Often they just want to give you a letter that confirms they've treated someone -- that's just history, it doesn't say anything about future travel restrictions. Also, it's imperative to take care of this before the person goes on overstay. Edited May 9, 201313 yr by NancyL remove machine functions
