I've checked ita matrix, orbitz and a few other fare comparison sites, and to go from HKT to LAX is a mimimum of 50K/per person. Slighly cheaper from BKK, but still would need to get to BKK from HKT. Any recommendations on sites/places to look?

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day is PEAK season (seasons: low, shoulder, high, peak) so not that much can be done.

Try different dates, esp. Mon-Thu, make sure you meet any minimum stay requirements (some are 6 days). Keep looking, assign a value and then when you see that, purchase.

What is your budget? Preferred schedule, routing, carrier, etc.

Check MH, CA, CI, DL, KE (websites).

Yep, peak time so all sites and airlines are showing nice high prices. Do any airlines lower their price as departure dates get closer if they have inventory on long haul flights as opposed to short haul carriers that raise their prices?
