Good Travel Agent

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need a travel agent that I can communicate with online. I need to book some flights to and from Thailand, US and Canada. I am not in Thailand at the moment.

thanks.

Pretty sure your outbound (initial) leg must be bought in the country of origin. If you are leaving from the USA you'll need to buy it there. Also when buying tickets the first leg must be used before the second leg is valid.

I could be wrong ... anyone else want to respond?

I'm in the us.....so always use "Expedia.com"

i reccomend looking at travelocity there (the USA) too ... and signing up for the price updates they do

ORBITZ is good for me

I dropped Orbitz and Travelocity from this site after testing their customer service. Terrible response in an emergency. Expedia has a better reputation, but I'd recommend Flight Centre as you can book online and they also have live travel agent offices in Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. I've had to deal with lost tickets while in Asia before and they handled things well from outside the country even.

We have a flight search engine that you can use for research. I recommend using it to find flights but take the info to a travel agent and have them book it for you.

I have been having good luck with yahoo farechase it checks all the online places and give you the cheapest

Sidestep.com is pretty good. :o

Thanks for all the links.

I actully need to book flights from BKK to Canada via the US and back again. I have checked out most of the online sites, Orbitz, Expedia etc. Seeing as I am flying from BKK ( I'm not in BKK at the moment and only plan to be when I fly out of there) I was wondering if there was a good travel agent I could contact in BKK (or anywhere in LOS). Hoping that because the flight is based out of BKK there may be better deals going trough an agent in BKK

I use traveltech200.com out of bangkok

don't you mean traveltech2000?

Anyone heard of Thaiairbooking.com? They seem to be affiliated with Mandala travel, which has had ads in the Bangkok Post for years. Anyway, I emailed them and got a very rapid response (within an hour!) with a very good deal. Anyone with any experience on this one?

Not necessarily true, but the fare will be calculated from the country of origin.

It can be complicated to refund such a ticket.

Also when buying tickets the first leg must be used before the second leg is valid.

Not necessarily true either.

On one occasion I needed to fly from Johannesburg to Bangkok, one way.

I checked the price of the one-way ticket and it was more than a discounted return.

So I bought the ticket return BKK-JNB-BKK and only used the return half.

No-one raised an eyebrow. That was on South African.

I just used sidestep as a ticket price search engine. They sent me to OneTravel which booked my ticket at a little less than Thai Air, but with their fee it ended up the same price. But it's nice to have it done with.

Well OneTRavel didn't work the first try so I went right to Thai Air and got it. It was a nearly fully booked and Thai Air was able to search while I was on the phone -she was able to ask if the remaining open flights were okay.

Here's the site that booked my OneTravel failed attempt;

www.thaiairbooking.com

They seem to have a good setup in usual circumstances.

It was odd that they emailed me and instructed me to contact my 'bank' and THEN contact their customer service center. They hadn't debited my CC yet but it was a little disconcerting to think I'd have to fight for refund of a booking never made...

Same price at Thai Air, much quicker in this instance. I used their toll free phone number.

I am planning on booking through thaiairbooking.com as well, their customer service response has been excellent--surprising for here, really.

So, the cc/bank issues were with Onetravel then, not thaiairbooking? How did it all go with thaiairbooking then?
