Myself, I spoiled my wife with a B&O 32" (80 cms diagonal with automatic 'turning')...fabulous quality and big enough screen. If your viewing distance is not more than 2 1/2 - 3 meters a VERY big screen will hurt your eyes and is in fact BAD for your eyes and watching becomes very tiring. EPG I bought a Samsung 61 inch state of the art back projection tv at Central BKK last year. I t was on special offer - down from 199,000 to 139,000. It is very large, unbelievably light (not like th old style back projection jobs) and while I would concede that a plasma has a sharper picture, there's very little in it. I can watch in the middle of the day and the picture is still sharp. I did a thorough check of Samsung TV products on the net before I bought it. Pretty much all the reviews for my model all from over the world were rave reviews - from customers to the specialist magaazines. From what I can see, Samsung TV's are very hightly regarded, so I'don't know where you get your information from, expatgaz MY 61 inch, in my HUGE lounge is wonderful. With my home theatre system, its just like being at the movies - except that the popcorm and drinks are free, and I can put my head on the wife's lap, and have my chest rubbed. I have a 42" Panasonic Plasma and you are right about selecting your size. Was thinking 50" but after getting the 42" knew that 50 would be too much. Quite happy with mine especially since it has a VGA port to connect my media center PC to. Quality is excellant. Got it for 99,990 marked down from 279,990 due to end of year stock clearance making room for new models, last one available. Last installment payment is next month. Thanks....did go to Numchai and they were very helpful....I am now looking to spend no more than 100k maximum and the choices seem few. The 37-40 inch LCD are all above that. I am not seeing any name brand plasma for 100k.........any suggestions ? I have looked at Sharp Aquos 37" LCD and the Sony Bravia 40" LCD....the ones that offer HD connection for the future are all above 100k I don't know if I need HD or not. fisherd3 Posted March 27, 2006 Share Posted March 27, 2006 i know it is abit of a never ending spiral, but the prices of flat screens are on the way down , on Bloomberg recently it said the fourth quarter factory gate price of LCD/Plasma screens, had fallen by the biggest quarterly fall on record in the fourth quarter of 2005. I would hang on in there for a while, I would never have dreamed of paying GBP1000 for a TV in my life before so I am trying my best not to get 'sold up' now, especially when compared with a 29" F/s @ 10,000 bht incredible value and 34" for around 30,000bht. 100,000 bht does not seem in the ball park to me. The cost of manufacturing a flat screen TV is reportedly much smaller than a CRT type TV so they should logically be much cheaper. EPG I believe you'll find that Samsung are the company that make the screens for them all, Sony etc rebadge the samsung kit, they may use their one drive circuits. The fonts, graphics are crystal clear. You have separate video settings for the VGA port versus the composite video allowing customizing the video and audio settings. I saw a Samsung 40" LCD TV on sale for 99k baht...the other stores have it for 120k baht. The TV looks to be ok and got a good review on Cnet Asia.
