String Of Tornadoes Kill At Least 6 In Northern Texas, 7 Missing

<p>DALLAS, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) -- At least six people were confirmed dead after a series of tornadoes swept through the northern region of the state of Texas, local authorities said.

<p>A group of over ten tornadoes struck the region on Wednesday night, heavily affecting Hood County, located southwest of the Forth-Worth/Dallas area, killing at least six people. Weather services said wind speeds reached up to 200 miles per hour.

<p>Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds on Thursday afternoon during a press conference identified the six fatal victims as Glenda Whitehead, Bob Whitehead, Tommy Martin, Leo Stefanski, 80, Jose Tovar, and Marjorie Davis, 82. In addition, Deeds said another seven people were still missing.

<p>Meanwhile, county government officials estimated that the tornadoes destroyed 19 buildings and damaged around 60 others, while 17 mobile homes were also destroyed with a couple of others damaged as well. Thousands of homes reportedly suffered from power outages.
