candypants
have you tried vlc player. hasnt failed yet, even lets you adjust subtitle and audio sync while viewing. you know the srt must have the same name as the media file Edited May 20, 2013 by candypants
ThaidDown
Always used to use MKVToolnix with MKVExtractGUI-2 added into same folder when 'playing' with MKV s. MKVToolnix install or portable from http://www.downloadbestsoft.com/MKVToolNix.html MKVExtractGUI-2 from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/MKVExtractGUI-2.shtml Just unzip ExtractGUI to the same folder as MKVToolnix. howto
@candypantsyeah, vlc is/has been my preferred play for years. does not show muxed subs on the laptop or desktop. the sony or the Phillips BR players don't either Yes, I know the .sub must be named the same @ThaidDown I used the 'port' ver of MKVToolnix this morning, but used MKVcleaver instead of MKVExtractGUI-2. IT DID WORK to extract a .srt from a .mkv IT FAILED to resync a standalone sub. I'll give MKVExtractGUI-2 a go tomorrow. Please remember -2 issues here. T'anks to both of you... JetsetBkk
I use the following sites for subtitles: http://www.addic7ed.com/ http://www.subtitleseeker.com http://www.subtitle.co http://engsub.net/ http://www.podnapisi.net http://www.opensubtitles.org http://www.tvsubtitles.net http://www.subtitles.com.br http://my-subtitles.com/ I use Subtitle Edit 3.3 RC1 to synchronize .srt files manually (latest version is now 3.3.4) by adjusting the frame rate. But usually I just get/test the correct named .srt file.
lomatopo
1) pull a .srt/.sub from a .mkv Assume it's a hard sub? I confess I haven't done this in years - it's so easy to get original material with subs on Thai trackers - but back in the day I did use SubRip which can peel hard subs via OCR, it requires 'training'. http://zuggy.wz.cz/ Edited May 21, 2013 by lomatopo
howto
@JetsetBkk Wow, thanks for the links.I was able to DL theSubtitle Edit 3.3.4 (not tried yet) @lomatopoyeah I also used SubRip years ago.The OCR was not that great.Right now, I'm lucky to have internet at all. 10 days ago could get 8mbs/11snrm could force to 9.4mbs/5snrm Now it's 2mbs/4snrm. real True Tech here last Thursday said line needs replacing, and he would contact the subcontractor He forgot, till wife called him yesterday am suppose to be fixed today, yeah right, BS, I will believe it when I see it. WhizBang
I use SubTitle Edit to resync subs. It has a 'Visual' mode, where you can sync the subtitle to the video. SubTitle Edit: http://www.nikse.dk/ Mkvtoolnix is a must have tool for general MKV manipulation and maintainence. Thailand J
If the muxed subtitles don't work or are not in sync, you can just find a new subtitle file online and remux. I like subscene.com the best to look for subtitles. I use mkvmerge to remux. I use subtitleworkshop4 to resync an .srt subtitle file before remuxing when I have to.
