In late August, I will be going to Turkey for a vacation by way of the UK. I'll be flying into London and doing trains from the UK across Europe to Turkey. I know I do a visa on arrival (VOA) in Turkey but I am curious about visa requirements within the EU. Once I enter the EU (in France), will I need separate visas as I pass from one country to the other on the way to Turkey or is the EU treated as one big country for visa purposes? I'm a U.S. citizen and will be traveling under a U.S. passport.

Thanks

David

The EU and "Schengen" are two different places . You arrive in UK as a US citizen on a mutual visa waiver. I have no idea about Schengen as luckily the UK has avoided common boarders, but imagine as a US citizen you will gain visa free entry. Turkey is neither EU or Schengen so check on their rules.

UK, 6 month, if arriving from Ireland 3 month

Schengen area, 90 days Visa free entrance, all countries no border controls,

U.S. citizens can stay for an extra 90 days without a visa in Denmark (as long as they have not previously visited Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and/or Sweden during the 90 days' Schengen visa-exempt period).

EU Area, Romania, Bulgaria ect. 90 Days Visa free entry.

Turkey, 90 Days Visa on arrival.

Have a nice and good trip. No problem, no Visa in advance needed. Cheers Alfred thumbsup.gif
