Sorry for posting again but need some info (most recent), as going to Vientiane tomorrow.

1. Which documents to show (I now have pretty much all docs that i used for extension at CW in BKK 1.5 year ago, guess about half no need to show)

2. Letter from wife asking them to issue me a visa, and wife should attend too just in case? (this is standard i take it? )

3. Most important, an old gentleman said i need to show that i have some money in the bank (100K should do it)????

Should not be any money in bank requirement for single entry (other than the normal 20k of any non immigrant visa which is almost never asked for first world travelers). You should have marriage certificate/copy of wife ID card and home register. If you have note/letter it can be useful if a question about other documents but normally would not be required and if she is with you she could do if asked.

Better bring 35usd with you otherwise you gotta pay much more in thb. No need to use that offices where tuktuk suggests you get your Laos visa, guy gets a percentage from this rip-off it is totally useless service* and you gotta wait for your passport with visa anyway.

Here you can download the visa application form and fill it in in advance, saves you 10-30 minutes queing.

*same for the boys outside the embassy gate who want to 'help' you getting it done fast, it's a waste of money.

Thanks rubberduck but flying bkk-vientiane so lao visa shouldn't be any problem (was told about 10min and not much waiting) bring USD was the first thing my german friend here in talingchun said.

Muah the last time I flew direct it took 1,5 hrs queing at the airport, hard to predict. That was late afternoon.

PS bring your umbrella, it's raining almost every evening here.
