BANGKOK: -- Police say they have four to five suspects for the bomb last Sunday in Ramkhamhaeng Soi 43/1 in Bangkok. They are now looking at the possibility it was a crime of passion related to an adulterous affair. Investigators initially believed the bomb was the result of a conflict between gangs involved in extortion from roadside vendors.

Police said they were also holding one suspect in custody, however, they declined to give any information for fear of harming the investigation.

Deputy Bangkok police chief Pol Maj-General Parinya Chansuriya said yesterday investigators were following leads relating to four to five suspects after looking at CCTV footage. They were also checking licence plates of a Toyota Fortuna and Isuzu pick-up truck parked in the area.

Police had not ruled out any motive for the bomb, but based on new evidence, investigators were now suspected the motive may be linked to an adulterous affair.

Parinya dismissed as untrue rumours on social media that there was another bomb but noted that security had been beefed up in key areas of the capital as a precaution.

Metropolitan Police spokesman Maj-General Adul Narongsak said police had interviewed 19 witnesses and were holding one suspect but declined to elaborate.

National police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew reiterated that the bombing was unlikely to be related to conflict in the deep South as the bomb used different components from those used by insurgents.

This is another Olympic standard BIB f..k up as the Maj. General leading the investigation gave 4, count them, 4 possible motives including the love affair aspect. Why don't they keep their mouths shut , say as little possible, be nice and vague as in " following several lines of enquiry " and expand on it later as appropriate rather than indulging in verbal diarrhoea and looking complete fools.

They're testing various scenarios to see which one would fly best politically.

If everyone used a bomb everytime, they were cheated in "love", Bangkok would soon look like Kabul! rolleyes.gif

When will this madness stop. Im not talking about the bombing, but the police and their stupidity!

The bomb was the result of faulty brakes ... like everything else in Thailand

... and the driver fled the scene and is hiding somewhere in Nakorn Nowhere?

They haven't (yet) mentioned suicide. Maybe the bomb just blew itself up.
