You Can Put Lipstick On A Pig................................

I've looked around Pattaya, after an 18 month absence. Despite a plethora of new trendy hotels, and hugely increased prices,it's still a pig.

The roads are still the same broken, too narrow lanes that they always were, the pedestrian lights don't even work in some places ( and the drivers ignore them anyway ) the pavements are still the same broken, too narrow, encroached wrecks that they always were,

Bali Hai pier is a disgrace.

The traffic is completely out of control on Second- almost impossible to cross.

Prices are ridiculous. When a certain purple coloured hotel chain starts charging 1400 baht for a room ( 800 in one without a lift ) I know the ling have taken over the zoo.

Pattaya was always a dirty, decrepit hole with a filthy poisoned beach, but it was a wonderful cheap place for mongers. Now it's just a dirty, decrepit hole with a filthy poisoned beach for stupid package tourists that get sucked in by a picture in a travel brochure to pay way too much for a hotel room and food.

With prices way too high, an overpriced baht and a world recession, the bars are emptier than I have ever seen them. If this keeps up, the greedies will get their way, and the bars will disappear, but if then the trendy overpriced hotels go bankrupt because their target customers finally realise that Pattaya is actually a dump with a horrid beach and don't come anymore, I'll be hi fiving!
