Just checked my bank account, looking for my Social Security deposit into Bank of Bangkok.

Has anyone else noticed that the USD to Baht exchange rate is back to where it was on January 1?

Doesn't that call for a bit of cheer - if not a reason to go out and buy a few extra beers this week?

Or should I still be miserable and depressed about my lot in Thailand and thinking of relocating to some more favorable rate-of-exchange destination? (i.e. chasing past performance!)

I had been watching it for months out of the usual curiosity

It was not a easy climb back to over 30thb/1USD

Would not complain if it were to continue

Nice it's back over 30Bt/USD but when I arrived here almost 5 years ago it was a little over 34Bt/USD. On a long term basis the trend is still down...but many trends usually reverse at some point so maybe it will get back to 34 some day. I know, I know, dreams & hopes are great, but stick to reality.

    Pleased to see 30.x but am not celebrating too loudly, just hope it hangs around like that for a while.

    Am licking a -100,000 baht wound after bringing in two wires a few weeks ago at 29.45 / 29.65 respectively (BkB TT).

    Interesting to note that the USD / Baht Rate is no longer in lock step with the Euro

    Okay, I'll bite. I F'ing HATE it when I get more money -- F'ing hate it! Why can the baht rise to one baht = $0 so I can get no Social Security. THEN I'll be happy!

    The AUD is down against the USD. Outrageous!
