The position of the bed head depend of your personal "pakua" who is calculate with your birthday

for some, west is the way to put the bed...

your wife is right...never put the feet of bed directly in front of the door : its beause dead people go always the feet first by the door

never put a mirror or a screen tv in front of the bed or hidiing it when you sleep : will make your spirit confuse during the night

always put the bed that you can see the door...for peace of mind..like this you can see if somebody is coming inside

never put water in the bedroom

pastel color only

every corner of west north south and west of the house has something to do with money , education , sexuality, social

ect ect ect...

I have design my house to be the more feng shui possible ! not easy !!!

Dont forget that big nation like china base their bizzness ect. on feng shui art !!!

Chinese people don't like to lose their time !!! if feng shui was not working its a long time that the Chinese have sure let it down !!!

feng shui is first something logical who mix the materiel and spirit logic...it is not because you cannot see the force around that is not exist...can you see the TV wave ???

you fell the wind but cannot see him ;)

sorry for my poor english

your wife not crazy, she just Thai

you must be careful which way the bed go because dead people always lay that way

also bed with 4 poles not good because same as spirit home

if you want your wife comfortable in bed, is this problem that you do this?

I watch ffotball with my boyfriend when they come to the field they always touch the concrete before they go

I ask why they do like this, he reply for 'good luck'

then he tell me about many western things

it is bad luck to have old boat name same as new boat

I would just be happy to have boat

why the big football team, all black have small animal that go with them for each game

he say for good luck

so your culture and my culture have many same thing lucky and not lucky

if she good woman to you, take good care, make your wife happy, it is good for both you

I hope that help you understand a little bit

There you herd it from the horses mouth, just kidding. When I was young I had red-orange hair and every college kid to his grandpa liked to ruffle their hands through that red mop of mine. "Bring good luck to me kid"! I used brylcreem grease to darken it and discourage the impromptu hair harassments. Now that it's grey and a bare bald dome, I wish I had some luck.

C'mon dude give her a hand. You need to have the feng shui correct in the bed room at least:

http://fengshui.about.com/od/love/qt/perfectbedroom.htm

"A good feng shui bedroom is a bedroom that promotes a harmonious flow of nourishing and sensual energy."

Correct, however she will move it in 30 minutes.

Happened to me, also. One of the first things she did when she got a smartphone was to use the damn compass. I finally asked her "which way is love?" and she stopped.

Education has nothing to do with it. All cultural, I am afraid.

On a side note, last week I woke up all upset. Wife asked why. I told her I had a bad dream. She insisted for almost an hour that I tell her. So I did. I dreamt my son died and I had to figure out a way to tell her.

Oh, she says............ that is number 10! She bought lottery number 10 for 100 baht and we won 8000. Go figure. For almost an hour I thought she was worried about what I dreamed about.

That sort of superstitious crap has nothing to do with background, standing or education i'm afraid.

We humans are nothing more than an ignorant destructive parasite on one single grain of sand floating in the vast ocean which is our milky way galaxy, which itself is just one grain of sand floating in the vast ocean which is our univese, whish is just one grain of sand floating in what?

At one time thinking the world was round or the sun didn't revolve around the earth which was the center of the universe was 'superstitious crap' and could get you hung or killed by the 'all-knowing leaders'.

We know Sweet F.A. as much as we think we do know. Why belittle the woman's good intentions and care for their well-being and future?

At the very least, while she's exerting herself pushing the furniture around she's keeping fit and making that body that little bit sexier! Always good.

Once she has achieved what she feels is the perfect Feng Shui, at the very least, and undisputable, is the fact she will reach a level of happines and satisfaction in her accomplishment which will reflect positively in her demenour... a happy woman is always good.

Subconciously, she may also want to prove to the 'doubting Thomas' farang that she knows what she's doing and in such a mindset may lay on a night of lovemaking reminiscent of the 'honeymoon period' simply so she can smile like a cheeky monkey and prove 'woman always right'...

A no-lose situation.

Perhaps you should rethink the logic of your outlook.

These Feng-Shui folks often forget the bad influence coming from the radiation of the water pipes outside or inside the walls. Before I worry about Feng Shui, I have to know, where the water lines are and if they can have an adversely affect on the Feng Shui arrangement. May be you should look for professional help.

Cannot believe anyone would have a go at the op for any of his comments, perhaps they are having a bad hair day.

If the op thinks his wife is losing the plot he should meet mine, he would soon realise how sane his wife really is. My missus has long red (dyed, of course) wavy hair and when something goes wrong she goes "Waaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!

It's like being married to Lucille Ball.

My Mother was Welsh, and the most superstitious person I though I ever met, until I came to LOS. My mother-in-law down in Surin (boondocks/outback) would not let me sit under a coat hanger, for some reason.

Nothing wrong with joking about Buddhism, have met some very funny monks over the years. One of the nine monks we had at our wedding ceremony wanted to speed things up because he was hungry and wanted to get stuck into the food laid out in front of him.

English is the only acceptable language, except within the Thai language forum, where of course using Thai is allowed.

Maybe good place to ask this question? My wife starts running thru the house unplugging every electric cord in the house when there's a lightning storm. Is this a common safety practice in Thailand? I remember my Grandmother doing this 50 years ago in Canada but no one does it now.

Actually it is very common where I live in Australia. A very highly prone area for lightning strikes. And unplugging is the only sure way of avoiding damage from surges.

Therefore your wife is a very smart and practical lady.

well done Her!!!

Does that mean the mirror on my ceiling has to come down?

Depends where your ceiling is. If it is in Pattaya or Australia you might get away with it. If it's in Buriram, the answer is probably yes.

Don't you mean sexual energy coffee1.gif

As for the original post what can you expect when people call their children, dog, cat, bird, fish, little, big, pig, ad nauseum.

As for losing it, did she ever have it for a start?

Can't see the problem. There is all sorts of cultural stuff the missus does and none of it is in any way harmful or expensive. The head of any bed cannot face west. It is not a hardship at our place. That's where the dead spirits go apparently.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a soft cock but most of my wife's idiosynchrasies are actually quite morally correct and certainly don't worry me too much.

But I am rather the rarity here on Thai Visa, I love my wife and find the Thais in general to quite a pleasant lot. Everyone else seems to be married to her brother (who is really her husband) who is in cahoots with her whole family to steal all of his money.

There is a good reason to position furniture properly and even houses. If your house faces north and the longest part of the roof faces east west the sun will go directly over the long roof line and the house will be cooler. Many builders of 'Queenslanders' in Australia knew that 100 years ago. Some people also sleep better facing a particular direction. Don't be too hasty to criticize superstition - remember the last world cup - football, who predicted the winners ??

That sort of superstitious crap has nothing to do with background, standing or education i'm afraid.

I am afraid you are wrong.
Explain why don't you?

Thai friends and family of mine are no more superstitious than Westerners. As a culture, there seems to be more superstition than many Western countries. However, educated, traveled, sophisticated Thai people have no more superstition than their western counterparts. This my personal experience for the last 15 years. The fact that Buddhism is the official Religion of Thailand confuses the issue. All Religions are superstition based.

Personally I find this superstition much more troubling than what way someone's spouse wants the bed positioned.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in Me, and I in him. (Jn 6:53-56)" This would be Holy Communion by the way.

She says it's something to do with the direction you point a coffin at a funeral or something, can't sleep in that direction for that reason.

I'm not dead yet.

Have to humour them.

I was a monk In my younger days, I try to explain to her this has nothing to do with Buddhism, but I'm fully aware to you will never change their thinking and as it does not bother me and is quite entertaining I will let her be.

Not that we can really control them anyway.

That's exactly right. The head of the bed cannot be towards the west. That's reserved for the head of the coffin! That was my wife's only rule.

I keep reading in this thread, coffin this, coffin that. WHAT coffins? this is Thailand and pretty much most dead folk here get cremated. I have seen the "coffins" (before the cremation) pointed in every direction possible. When is "west" ever a priority? I'm dying to know smile.png
