Looking for a good place to vacation in December with missus and young child. Preferably in the mountains where it is cool. No beach destination. Doesn't have to be Thailand, anything within a 4-5 hour flight radius. Any suggestions?

Within 4-5 hours gives you a lot of options. What activities are you interested in?

As you know, India and Nepal have great mountains, but starting to get a bit cold by then. The Cameroon Highlands in Malaysia I've heard are nice. Also lots of options in China. Sapa in Vietnam is suppose to be great.

And of course some good options around Chiang Mai/CR. And more in the Petchabun, Loei and of course Khao Yai.

U don't want to be in Nepal or northern India (unless you wish to ski) in Dec!

Japan gets cold as well
