90 Day Reporting

Featured Replies

I have a 1 year multi-entry Non-O visa issued in Los Angles CA (USA) at the Thai Consulate. I arrived in Thailand on March 20. My Thai wife asked a friend about my visa status and he said that I need to leave the country to do a 90 day in order to keep my visa valid. I thought that with a 1 year non-O visa I only needed to report my address every 90 days. Does anyone have any current information or advice on this subject.

Thanks

Visa = 90 day leave country.

Extension = 90 day address reporting.

Is my understanding of it.

What is the 'permitted to stay' date which would have been stamped in your passport when you arrived.

If it is around June 18th then you have a 90 day entry on an 'O' visa and will have to leave and reenter for another 90 day , or get an extension.

If the 'permitted to stay date' is March 2014 then you have an O-A visa, over 50 preapproved long stay of 1 year which would have required medical and police reports..

On what basis did you get the 'O' visa, visit wife or retirement ?

With a multiple non-O you can only stay for 90 days, then you have to leave the country. Check the stamp in your passport, that gives the date when you are supposed to leave.

But you have the option of getting a 1 year extension of stay, in which case you do not have to eave the country but report your stay every 90 days.

If you have a Thai wife, you might be able to get a 60 day extension at immigration on each entry. But it is up to the officer . Cost 1900 baht.

You would be correct if you had obtained an Non Immigrant O-A visa from the LA Consulate

However there is no indication OP could qualify for a long stay (retirement) O-A visa.
