PHOENIX, ARIZONA (BNO NEWS) -- A Los Angeles flight heading toward Texas made an emergency landing after a bomb threat was issued, local officials said Monday.

The Southwest Airlines 2675 flight made the emergency landing at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona due to a possible bomb threat after takin off from Los Angeles at around 2 p.m. local time.

The passenger airplane was traveling from Los Angeles to Austin when officials warned Phoenix police of the possible threat, forcing the pilot to make the landing, Sky Harbor spokeswoman Julie Rodriguez told the Phoenix Business Journal.

Rodriguez added that the aircraft was then isolated far from the airport's terminals and on its west side for safety percautions. As police carried out investigations, traffic in and out of the airport was diverted to the east side.

Reports indicate that a phone call specifically threatened that flight as it was on in the middle of its route. Over 140 passengers on board were evacuated safely, although authorities were carrying out interviews to gather information.
