BANGKOK: -- Immigration Police yesterday arrested a 32-year-old US citizen, wanted in Florida on suspicion of dealing drugs, at an apartment in Bangkok's Din Daeng district.

Immigration police chief Panu Kerdlarppol said Ryan Steven Miller was apprehended after US authorities and the FBI requested his arrest.

Miller, who fled to Thailand from Vietnam last October, first came to the FBI's attention in 2007 when he allegedly sold around 300,000 Ecstasy pills over six months, before being hired by a Vietnamese narcotics ring to transport drugs.

The FBI says Miller then smuggled heroin with the True Asian Pride gang, earning as much as US$600,000 (Bt18.6 million) per week. Miller has not worked since fleeing to Thailand, but has received Bt40,000 a month from "a friend", say police.

Miller was initially charged with an unauthorised stay in the Kingdom.

In a separate case, Immigration Police yesterday arrested 45-year-old Myanmar fugitive Shwe Nu for his alleged involvement in a drugs bust in Myanmar last August that yielded 171,000 yaba tablets.

Nu was arrested at Soi Charoen Krung 76 after he entered Thailand on Monday. Police have revoked his visa and are keeping him under custody pending extradition.

What was that again? ...arrested after...? After the FBI did what? What what? Who who?

And that is the only reason they got off their butts?

I wonder what would happen if the FBI requested all drug dealers in Thailand to be arrested. Nah! Just a good dream. I'm awake now.

Is his T-Shirt an ad for a bail bondsman? Can't read the Th

It says "Person who must be detained" or loosely, "Detainee".

What? You get a souvenier tee shirt for getting arrested?

Yes, it's the Thai version of the orange jumpsuit - saves money and useful for those ubiquitous citizen's arrests when the suspect does a runner, what with the phone number and all. Not sure whether or not you get adult nappies too though.

1) He's not worked since moving to Thailand

2) He can read Thai

(Probably false) Conclusion: He's been studying Thai at a language school!

Any school have him as a client?

Amazing he was earning $600K a week, is that really possible as a "gang member" - surely you'd have to be pretty close to head honcho to be bringing in that kind of money?!? That's alot of cash, even for drug money.

Regarding the age debate...., take a 32 year old drug dealer..., running drugs all over the place..., then finally running into the inevitable sting...,

Ya the illegal activities, combined with a sore neck (always looking behind), time & stress, could age one considerably. In this guy's case, 32 could be the new 52! tongue.png cheesy.gif

$600K a week? Not impossible...rather highly probable. Find ths book..."Snowblind" by Robert Sabbag and have a read.

Sure it's dated and many things have changed since then however....on a global scale only 10% of smuggled drugs are

ever caught by "authorities". Just something to think about....

OK, I'll believe you - but definitely not a mule or a low-level gang member. Middle to high level "management", certainly been doing it for a while to earn that kind of dosh.

32? I'm 32 & look half his age....maybe life on the run & dope sales ages you quickly...

The stress aging him is a certainty, and more than likely he has tasted a fair share of the goods as well, all in the name of "product research" of course thumbsup.gif doing enough stimulants does not do wonders for your apparent age.

Thailand seems to be one of the most favourite places for criminals to hide.

Every now and then it has news. Sometime scammers, fugitive, crooks, looters, dacoit, marauder, robber etc., etc.

No...that's why he got arrested.

He thought is said "Same same...but different" in Thai, like all the cool kids wear.

Re: 32, made me think of Indy Jones "It ain't the years, it's the milage." and "earning as much as US$600,000 (Bt18.6 million) per week." Sounds like he didn't share with the right people. And we know how Thais hate competition....

Don't worry, they wouldn't be providing evidence to you anyway as a TV member.
