Do I need to leave Thailand to renew my Education Visa

Featured Replies

I have a current education visa, until end of July, getting conflicting comments, Schools says they can renew for further 12 Months at local Immigration, (Chonburi) others have told me have to go to Laos again.

What is the situation?

With paperwork from the school you can extend your stay to continue your study. Cost is 1,900 baht.

Most likely for 90 days at a time, but sometimes for 1 year at a time. Depends on the school and immirgation.

Trust the school, they're doing this every day for hundreds of students, they've greased the skids and know the score, what else are you paying them for?

No you don't need to leave, I got my first ED Visa exactly 3 years ago and my 4th year is currently being processed and in that time I haven't left the country

This is not a question of Immigration being paid off, the rules say you don't need to leave

Thanks Guys, I am switching from Leaning Thai to doing a TEFL course, will go back to learning Thai after that! Getting a handle on the language but alphabet a different story, will try in my own time to grasp it.Getting to old I think!

Start the new course before you have to go for an extension, than it will be tied to your new course and not your current course.
