Business Visa without Work Permit?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is a dumb question but I've looked and looked and all the advice I've seen seems to relate to people coming to Thailand to work as opposed to do business.

I am a partner in a travel business. I am a UK citizen and the partnership is British.

We plan on offering tours in Thailand to our customers We would not plan on running the tours ourselves but would sub-contract the running to local TAT licensed guides and drivers. The marketing, promotion and invoicing for the tours would be done outside of Thailand.

However, I would need to visit Thailand in order to find, approve and do deals with suitable hotels, guides and drivers. I would also wish to participate on certain tours as a customer to ensure that the standards we set are being maintained.

I would envisage needing to come to Thailand for extended periods on multiple occasions over the next few years and would therefore assume that I would need a.renewable, multi-entry business visa.

Would it be possible to obtain such a visa in these circumstances without setting up a Thai company and / or applying for a work permit?

Many thanks in advance.

You would want a normal multi entry non immigrant B visa for such business travel - easily obtained in home country with letter from your company explaining the need for frequent business travel. Is is visas for work that require the extra paperwork from local employers.

Thank you for your prompt and useful reply.

What your intending to do falls exactly within the definition of having a multiple entry Non-imm B without the need for a WP for Thailand
