Suvarnabhmi airport will have an estimated 45 million passengers each year,

I am wondering how many passengers are now using Don Muang and will the new airport really have so many passengers in light of the fact that Singapore airlines use Changi as a hub and Cathay Pacific use Hong Kong as a hub.

Are thai Airways really doing so good.

Don Muang handled 32 million passengers January-October 2005, up around 3% over 2004.

If anything, many experts are suggesting that Suvarnabhumi will be undersized immediately it opens, 2010 :o

FIO..

really Just to make a comparision the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow which will open in 2007/8 is expected to cater or 30 million passengers a year.

Its final cost is estimated at 4.2 large ones and is the size of 50 footi pitches...it is however still only a shed ....

Estimated (again only )Nos of users passing through Heathrow in 2010 is 140 M rising to 200 M in 2020......where do they all GO.. :o

Airport 'ready on schedule'

Suvarnabhumi Airport Director, Mr. Somchai Sawadeephol affirmed that the construction of the new interantional airport will be completed on schedule. He said the official opening of the new airport will be determined by the government.

Mr Somchai was speaking in response to a news report alleging that there is a delay in the installation of the Information Management System (AIMS) as well as other final touches. The report said the opening would be by seven months from the June opening set earlier by the government. Mr. Somchai added that the installation of AIMS is 100% complete, and testing has started. All airlines have opened offices at the new airport.

The Airports of Thailand Plc has approved the decoration plans, and airlines have submitted their documents for moving their offices into the airport. He said there has been much progress overall.

However, Mr Somchai said the most worrying issue is training of officials. He indicated that all the work should be completed during May.
