Is there a pool nearish the train station I can pay to use for the day? Something nice with loungers and changing rooms with showers ... Cheers

just a suggestion. check out hotels on agoda or any other hotel site, find a couple convenient ones and find out by either phoning or just drop in and see if you can use their pools - you will have to pay a cover charge of course for the use of the pool and facilities.

The Patumwan Princess Hotel which is connected to MBK is not far from the the train station and have day passes to to the gym and swimming pool. The pool is 25m long and has plenty of sun beds. Good locker room with amenities. I'm a member there but I've seen people pay 300++ for the day.
