Hi, My name is Simon, I am from Melbourne Australia and would love to move to Ko Samui for 1 year+. I was wondering If there are any job oppotunities apart from teaching english? While I would love to teach English you must have a degree to do so in Thailand (this I don't have). However, I feel I have many skills to offer. I am also happy to do some volunteer work but fear not being able to make ends meet.

I can also DJ. Do you think it would be possible to gain work in clubs/bars behind the decks? Though I could imagine this sort of work would be highly competative??

I was also wondering if there is a place on Ko Samui where English speakers like myself can learn the Thai language?

Sorry about all the questions. Living on a beatutiful tropical island like Samui is a dream of mine that I am working towards. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Simon

you are more likely to get dj gigs on koh phangan, but they wouldn't be for much money (if any)- more likely just free accomodation and drinks. you could always start a school for aspiring djs! they sure need it here! or be one of those people that sets up party packages- ie. like Thai Break that just finished, where 160 germans all paid one price for 2 weeks of all-inclusive (food, accom, etc.) partying. it's kind of annoying but it does bring a lot of business to the local community and can bring in huge profit from people willing to spend money on a short holiday.

off topic i know , but shouldnt people be trying just a bit harder to keep it peaceful and beautiful down there rather than encouraging more of the same.
