Ormgard
Where do I find quality crash helmets? It's got to be a shop that not only has the L size, but also the XL one. And they should cost more than B1000 in order to give any real protection, right?
chanchao
Did you check at Tesco and the like? They have some full-face helmets in the non-toy section.
PeaceBlondie
You can search this Chiang Mai forum for prior threads on this. I bought a full-face Nolan for 1,500 baht on Chiang Moi Road, at Pida, the part supply house a hundred meters from the moat. Falling down in Mae Taeng cost me 64,000 baht, so far in shoulder damages. But the Nolan probably saved me 50,000 baht in head protection. I doubt that 1,000 baht buys a decent enough helmet in Chiang Mai; folks in the West pay over 8,000 baht. But, a big part of that goes to the lawyers. It's over a year ago now, but Pida had a lot of L and XL sizes; you have to try them on (which doesn't bother him). Some small shops get annoyed when you try their biggest helmets on, and don't buy.
