Work permit working for Thai husband?

Featured Replies

Hi Ladies. I am married to a Thai male who is a self-employed tour guide. He doesn't have a company or sole proprietorship. Just a license from TAT (Tourism authority Thailand) allowing him to open a small office and run tours. If I wanted to work for him, doing the English language marketing side of things, how would we go about applying for a work permit? Thanks

Probably not going to happen. need a registered business first

Not sure, but I don't think so.

He is a Thai, and can open a business legally whereas a foreigner couldn't .

She said he as a license from TAT I believe, so I think he's legal.

Therefore, my believe is that he can hire her as his assistant.

Now I admit I'm not an expert on this, but he can hire his wife (because he's Thai) as his assistant and therefore he can generate a letter for her and she can then get a Work Permit.

It just depends on him being legal with his company .... and I don't think there's any financial or employee requirements for a Thai owner.

Err about 99% of thai business's in Thailand are Thai owned, even the ones "owned" by Farangs...lest not forget the 49/51% rule...wink.png

and as a business under a Limted company is a "legal person" the same rules would apply

Hi

To get a work permit you need a 2.0 million Baht Limited Company , but when you are married with Thai you can apply for a work permit with a 1.0 million Baht Limited Company , there also other special rules , please attached link .

Your husband already have TAT license , this license is for private self employed it cost 10,000 Baht (Deposit to TAT)

If you have to get TAT license in a company it will cost 100,000 Baht ( Deposit to TAT ) for domestic tours and 200,000 Baht ( Deposit to TAT ) for domestic / overseas tours .

The deposit will transferred in to a special bank account , and will be revert back to you when license expire or you cancel the license .You will get interest on the deposit like a normal bank account

Your husband is tour guide , and I assume that the have a tour guide license ,

Be aware the tour guide license is only for Thai citizen

I want to share what I know but I am not a lady
