Can I extend my tourist visa by 60 days based on visiting a child?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The last time I went to Laos I couldn't get a Non O visa like I normally do, so I had to get a double entry tourist visa. It's coming to the end of the last entry on the 14th of July. With a Non O visa I normally go to immigration and get a 60 day extension. I took my daughter with me last time and got it with no problems.

So can I still get a 60 day extension based on visiting a child with having a double entry tourist visa?

Thanks in advance

Garry

Yes, but check the expire date on your visa so you don't loose your second entry.

Sorry I meant I've used up my 2nd entry and I'm coming towards the end of it.

Normally people do an extension for 30 days at the end of their last entry on a tourist,

So I can do an extension for 60 days if I take my daughter, the B/C and a copy of her mother's I.D ?

Thanks again :-)

Suspect you could also do the normal 30 day extension and then do the 60 day extension if you wanted more time. Most people extend both entries of a two entry visa if trying to stay the longest time. You just have to remember to make second entry while the visa is still valid.

Yes you can do it.

Why were you denied the O visa.

Are you aware that if you were to through a process at a Thai court you could get documents that would make you the legal the father of your child. With them you could get extension from immigration or a multple entry O visa.

I went to one of those guys outside the Thai consulate. I gave him all my paper work for the Non O single entry but I'd forgotten a copy of the house book with my daughter's name on it.

Time was against me so just applied for the double entry tourist visa.

Regards legalising my my fatherhood. My daughter will be 7 years old in October so can I just take her to the local Amphur and do it that way?

Do I just take her and she has to sign something? Do I need to take her mother too?

The court way is way out of my price range right now.

Thanks for the help guys

I got my 60 days ok from my 2nd entry 1 day before my visa expired on the 17th of May.

So, does that mean I just apply for 30 days extension as normal. Then after that go back and ask for another 60 days based on visiting my child? That's not bad at all and would save me doing a visa trip for another month.

Yes.
