Confused on what to do about my visa

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I came to Thailand on an O visa and it expires on the 20th of this month. I was curious about extending it for a few more weeks and wasn't sure of the most cost efficient route to doing so. I asked the school i'm working at what to do and they said to leave the country, but I've looked online and I've read on a couple forums that I can just go to immigration, pay a fee and they'll extend it for a couple weeks.

If someone could elaborate and kind of point me in the right direction I would be much appreciative of it. :)

You can not extend a non immigrant visa for 30 days like a tourist visa. But if you are married to a Thai or have a Thai child you can extend any stay for 60 days to visit them with normal 1,900 baht tm.7 application.

Would it be possible to just get a tourist visa from immigration or will that require me to leave the country as well?

Tourist Visas are available from Thai Consulates in other Countries.

Not Immigration.

You would not be able to work with a Tourist Visa either.

...I asked the school i'm working at...

Since you are working you presumably have a work permit. What stops you from getting a one-year extension of stay?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
