2 single entries followed by a double entry in 1 yr..... will it be ok?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Early this year I applied for a new passport at the local consulate in bkk and had my 30 day voa transferred to the new book at the immigration centre in Pats.

I then flew home to the mother country briefly in March this year and applied for a single entry.

Im now in europe and want to apply for another single entry in germany as I fear not having a visa when flying out of the USSR back to thailand. The airline could give me trouble even though Im entitled to a VOA. I will spend 1.5 months to 2 months in the LOS and then I plan to travel asia.

The question is.... when Im in KL in early December I want to apply for a Double entry. In the circumstances above this yr do you think that it is likely to be granted?

I was in KL at the thai consulate last yr applying for a single entry at the time and asked them about getting a double entry. They said its ok as long as I provide proof of 2 inward bound tickets into Thailand within the same 3 month period (i think she implied the first 3 months). I dont understand why this stupid requirement exists...

Sorry to ask another related question, but is there any use in attaching a copy of my bank statement from home to prove I have sufficient funds. Its evidence that I would not be working. Would this help when applying for the double entry visa?

many thanks

You don't recieve a VOA but a visa exempt entry, which is something different.

As the embassy stated, KL is unlikely to issue a double entry tourist visa unless you have two tickets out of Thailand.

Showing income does not help.

For your plan you only need a single entry, as a tourist visa is 60 days and can be extended by 30 days.

Instead of getting double entry TV in KL,

you might need to visit Laos

Vientiane is a maybe for a double

but you would get it in Savannkhet

I have never seen any reports of KL ever issuing a 2 entry visa.

Most consulates can and will issue two entry with proof of use. What they normally will not do is issue if they believe it is for continuous stay. So if you ask for a 2 entry visa with a flight out 6 weeks after arrival and another a few weeks later it is likely to be issued as it indicates a need because of your travels rather than a suspicion of working. But it is a judgement call so never a one suit fits all situation.
