BANGKOK: -- Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) may sue a fried chicken restaurant in Thailand called “Hitler” for using a similar logo featuring an image of Adolf Hitler in place of the iconic Colonel Sanders.

"We find it extremely distasteful and are considering legal action since it is an infringement of our brand trademark and has nothing to do with us," a spokesperson for Yum!, KFC’s parent company, told the Huffington Post.

The “Hitler” restaurant, which opened in Bangkok last month, has a storefront logo very similar to KFC's but with an image of the anti-Semitic dictator responsible for the mass murder of 6 million Jews and millions of others in the Holocaust during World War II.

The fried chicken restaurant was originally publicized in May when British author Andrew Spooner tweeted a photo of its façade. “Very bizarre Hitler Fried Chicken shop in Thailand. I kid you not. Complete with pic of Hitler in bow tie,” he wrote on Twitter.

The restaurant sells fried chicken as well as chips, burgers and kebabs, according to the UK's Daily Mail. Bangkok resident Alan Robertson told the Mail: “The place opened last month and nobody quite knows what to make of it.

Maybe the logo use was wrong but the McDonalds had been in the area for centuries long before that clown Columbus and his pal Amerigo discovered America and look at the problems that caused.

These companies are entitled to protect their trademarks, as much as anything to protect their customers from being ripped off by imposters. I was walking through Shanghai a while ago and noticed an entire fake Apple store, not just a fake phone, but the whole store was fake.

Unbelievable.......then again counterfeiting is a national sport in China.

And I can't find that in the article anywhere, and the statement about suing comes from yum foods, which is the American parent, not KFC Thailand.

If you are Thai, I am glad you are outraged, but I believe you are in a a very small amount of people in Thailand who even know about this restaurant.

Pepsi went through something similar but without Hitler.

The Thai dealer that was supplying Pepsi in Thailand demanded the Pepsi recipe and of course Pepsi declined.

Then this dealer decided to try to copy Pepsi with no success. He copied the Pepsi logo and called it, I believe, "Best".

What's funny is the Thais hate the taste.

On the note of the actual OP, I believe that all trademarked logo's and the relevant companies involved, are allowed to sue whoever uses their logo without the strict permission of the owner.

As far as can be determined this joint was opened up in the North 18-24 months ago and closed down very quickly afterwards. I am sure many on here remember the equally long threads about it then. The Daily Mail have plucked the story from the archives as a space filler and now it has gone viral. Does the place actually exist and is there anybody to sue? Seems funny that the Nation are reporting a story that has been published by the Daily Mail without sending someone around to the place themselves, and as it is supposed to be in Bangkok I would have thought that easy. I guess it should be the Government suing the Daily Mail because it is that paper that is making the country look stupid.
