visa non immigrant but which one?

Featured Replies

Hi, I am french, 47 years old. I travel very often to Thailand, a wonderful country for more than 10 years.

I bought 2 condominiums in the center of Bangkok. Can I get a non immigrant visa 1 year multiple entry, and where?

Thank you

Pat

Until about two years ago some Thai consulates gave a multiple-entry non-O visa to condo owners, but now your best option seems to be tourist visas. In three years, when you will be 50 years old, you can get a single-entry non-O visa and then in Thailand apply for one-year extensions of stay for the reason of retirement.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

There is an investment option if you hold 10 million baht in bonds or condos that might be open to investigation however - not sure of your holdings or if they would qualify but nothing lost in asking - but that is for one year extensions of stay from Immigration so would have to ask at immigration office in Thailand.

yes u can. go to consulate, tell them you like to get 1 year NON-O, bring proof that u have enough cash in french bank to finance your stay in thailand.

piece of cake. I did it like that and stayed 15 months. visa-run every 3 months. price for the visa was 150 EURO.

"yes u can. go to consulate, tell them you like to get 1 year NON-O..."

What was your request based on? Marriage, retirement, visiting friends or family...?

based on: i want to chillout in thailand and watch the ocean. i'm not married and too young for retirement. the only thing the consulate was interested in was if i were self-sufficient.

So it is possible to apply for a non-'O' if you have funds to support yourself? How much do the authorities need you to prove that you have and can it be in a non-Thai account?

It is not a valid reason to get a non-immigrant visa.

There may be some honorary Thai consulates that will still issue non-o visas for condo ownership.

Here is a list of them in Europe: http://www.guidetothailand.com/thailand-travel-information/honcon-europe.php

You would not be able to get it from any embassy or official Thai consulate.

Sorry Mod, you lost me!

Just a typo. Change reason to visa.

does anyone know if the rules of the visa will be more flexible in the future? Because I think it should me normal to get a least 3 months visa at each entry when we invest in Thailand...

Currently the rules are only becoming tighter.

Investment requires an investment of at least 10 million to qualify for a visa and yearly extension of stay.
