Conflicting information received about temporary passports

Featured Replies

Hello,

Me and my friends will fly on Thursday next week to Thailand - can you please clarify the following issue:

We are 6 in total, 2 of us have normal passports and we aim for visa on arrival, and 4 of us have temporary passports (valid for 1 year) and hopefully can get visa on arrival too. All passports are romanian.

On the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Romania concerning Thailand, it is clearly specified that temporary passports ARE allowed in the Suvarnabhumi Bangkok airport, as being valid for a Visa On Arrival.

However when asking the embassy in our country, they said it's not, we must absolutely get a tourist visa for the temporary passports. I find this information conflicting with what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says. Moreover, we only want to stay 8 days (so, much under those allowed 15 days), and of course we have also return tickets to our home country, as well as money to prove at the airport that we qualify for Visa On Arrival.

Can someone please explain out of your actual experience, are temporary passports valid for Visa On Arrival? Or should we expect being denied the visa on arrival at the Bangkok airport, despite us having return ticket, proof of accommodation, and money to show?

Many thanks in advance,

Regards,
