Overstay for 2 days

Featured Replies

Hi

I was wondering if it is a good idea for me to overstay by 2 days. I am a Singapore citizen who was on visa exemption for 30 days, after which I went to cambodia and was granted visa exemption for 15 days till 18 July. I am intending to stay for 2 more days till the 20 July then fly back to Singapore. Would it be and issue for me to overstay for 2 days or is it better for me to apply for further 7 days for 1900 baht?

There may be a small overstay stamp placed into your passport but it has never had any effect on future trips - but always better to not overstay as any accident/arrest in that status makes it more serious.

2 days will cost you 1000, staying legal will cost you 900 more. Seems not really a hard choice to make although does involve a few hours in immigration.

Horses for courses, I suppose. But, were I in you shoes, I would probably opt to pay the extra 900 (and spend a few "happy" hours in Immigration) in order to remain 100% legit.

I am in the same situation. I am returning to Thailand in December with my Thai wife to visit her family. In order to take advantage of flying on points I inadvertently booked our trip for a duration of 32 days in Thailand. What is the best way for me to get an extension of 2 dys? If I ask when I land will they grant that kind of stay or do I need to go to an embassy to ask for an extension?

Extensions of stay are granted at immigration offices and not at embassy

When you arrive they will not give you a 32 day stamp

You have to visit the nearest immigration office to where ever it is you are staying

You could get a tourist visa before you leave. Only costs the equivalent of 1000 baht at a Thai embassy or consulate.

Some airlines might not even allow you to board your flight if your return ticket is more than 30 days from date of arrival.

Did you count the 32 days including the date of arrival.

well they are not going to give you a 32 visa that for sure, in you case i would go to nearest consulate and get single entry torist visa, otherwise risk being refused boarding at airport home airport.
