BAAC credit-card scheme to be expanded to 4m farmers, with extra benefits

Featured Replies

Privileges under the cards are being expanded to annual health check-ups, accident insurance and the purchase of grocery items, while farmers of field crops other than rice, horticultural farmers and fishermen will now also be able to benefit, he said.

As a public service i would like to point out that they forgot first car payments.

Something way out of balance here, under the scheme the typical factory worker, the typical basic office worker, the factory supervisor, the motor cycle taxi driver don't get free annual health check ups, etc.

A very very unfair scenario, the farmers etc., pay no taxes, but get all sorts of benefits, which must be paid for - by taxpayers, may of whom have just enough resources (after tax) to get just above the survival line an hope they don't get sick, etc. The factory supervisor could be an example.

Farmers also don't pay taces but they also don't have an income. All they do is harvest 1 - 2 times a year some rice so they have enough eat. The government offers farmers a credit card and now you tell us they get all kinds of benefits. What are those benefits if you would like to enlighten us a bit?

The government would actually love it right now if the farmers could east all their rice crop. It just however probably be humanly impossible.

What do you mean they have no income. What do they get paid with? Fresh air?

Wasn't there a thread not so long ago where the farmers explained that the low yield of the harvest from the last few years hardly covered their investments.

So, yes they get paid air.

The low yield are down to how they go about doing their job which is basically the same as 100 years ago. No such low yields in neighbouring countries.

So now we are back to square one, a credit card for farmers who have no income.

Or is everything gonne change from the last 100 years next year?

It is inevitable that the smallhold Thai farmer is finished in the medium term. The problem is, it will kill the rural areas quickly. It is genuinely better in my opinion to pay those over 60 a pension to retire from agriculture.

So you claim, that folks who are not farmers, have no rice to eat, because the farmers do not sell any,but eat it all by themselves.!By the way,a lot of rice to eat by one family,he,he!And how can they clear what they owe on the creditcard,if they have no income?! Think a little bit...

And if they have no income and therefore they don't pay any taxes, if we want to be really pedantic, they should not be using roads paid for by those who do pay taxes, etc., etc.

And if they eat all the rice themselves how come the government has paid out several hundred billion baht (of taxpayers funds) to buy rice producer by Thai farmers?
