12 Million Baht Drugs Seizure by Pattaya Police

drugs-1.jpg
PATTAYA:--Crystal Methamphetamine with a street value estimated at 12 Million Baht was seized by Pattaya Police following an undercover drugs bust in Central Pattaya on Saturday.

Police Major General Katcha, the Provincial Police Commander, held a press conference at Pattaya Police Station to announce the arrest of Khun Suporn aged 36 and the seizure of just over 4kg of the class 1 drug, commonly known as “Ice”.

The Operation began with the arrest of a drug user which then led to the arrest of their supplier who was then able to supply Police with the name and telephone number of their supplier who is thought to be responsible for transporting drugs over the Mekong River in the North-East of Thailand from Laos.

The target was lured to Pattaya where he thought he was selling 1kg of the drug to an agent, who was in-fact an undercover Police Officer.

The arrest of a Thai and a mere 3 members of the BIB turn up for the photo. Arrest a foreigner and they are hanging from the ceiling. You have to feel sorry for this Thai offender as he just is not in the same class.smile.png

Still, apart from chooka's comments above, it is good to see that the BiB are continuing to get results on this front.

Pro drug & anti drug posters and readers can argue all they want, but in any society, in this world, there is no place for Crystal Methamphetamine. The more that can be removed from the distribution networks, the better for all.

IMHO, of course....................wink.png

AGREED!

That ice <deleted> really screws lives and families of the users. Any amount seized is good in my book!

My next door neighbor uses it and his business went down the tubes. His house looks shabby now and before he started using it the house was very nice. His wife just left him and he says "Once you start using it you can't get enough". Now his teeth are looking darker and his skin has red spots all over. So very sad!

I don't think I've EVER seen anyone defend methamphetamine-based drugs here at TVF. Many defend cannabis, but that makes perfect sense. Cannabis is much less harmful, both socially and physically than alcohol (or methamphetamine). It's always depressing when the "hang-em-high" brigade pipes up to condemn the poor guy who got caught with a bit of weed, saying that he should be put away forever. It's such a sad statement on society and how so many people have been brainwashed by the business-controlled governments of the world.

Yes, I agree to a certain extent with what you say, and recognize there is a vast difference between cannabis & meths.

My comment was aimed at those that can't make the difference and, whether through ignorance or 'simply caught up in the moment', seem to think there should be zero control over any drugs in society.

I seriously doubt that 4kgs is worth 12 million baht.

The Chinese lab crystal methamphetamine a.k.a. ICE normally found in Thailand is expensive at around THB4,000 per gram on 'the street' (Walking Street, Pattaya).

Thus for that fat 4kg shipment, its value is a very significant THB4,000 x 4,000 (4Kg = 4,000g) = THB16,000,000

Thus 12 Million Baht value = no problem... apart from the death penalty for dealing it and the dubious distinction of destroying the lives of hundreds of users and their families with this horrible evil stuff ermm.gif

Might be a good idea to maintain good security around your house and belongings.

I'd also keep a wary eye on the bloke as these meth folk have been known to dive

off the deep end as far as rational thought goes.

sounds all very good, but reality is that the politicians and police are the real drug dealers in Thailand and this is just to remove the competition and make them look good, it will have no effect on reducing drug use

off the streets sure, but seems many of you dont realize that yaba is openly sold and smoked inside the cells at the soi 9 police station, or it was a couple of years ago, I doubt it changed
