ARATHIWAT, July 22 -- Anti-Thai military banners, as well as spray-painted messages on roads and bridges were found across Thailand's southernmost provinces of Narathiwat and Pattani, with local authorities rushing to remove the graffiti.

In Narathiwat, the banners were hung on roadside trees and electrical wires and anti-military messages were sprayed in white or red on roads and bridges at 38 locations in eight districts in Narathiwat--Tak Bai, Ra-ngae, Su-ngai Padi, Waeng, Cho-airong, Chanae, Bacho and the provincial seat.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units inspected the scenes checking out possble bomb boobytraps before removing banners and graffiti.

In Pattani, similar graffiti demanding that the military withdraw from the area, was found more than 20 locations on Highway 410 between Pattani and Yala, as well as side roads in three subdistricts of the provincial seat and one subdistrict in Yarang.

According to the initial investigation, a group of 5-6 men sprayed the graffiti late last night.

Meanwhile, a rubber plantation worker was reportedly shot dead at work in Raman district of Yala early today. (MCOT online news)

This is an example of physiological operations. Control of the hearts and minds, This also involves religious schools and mosque. The government is doing the same thing in Issan. Red shirt villages and schools. The religion is not the problem, the separatist cadre are the problem. These cadre are local citizens that have been trained outside Thailand, and sent back to indoctrinate the citizens in the area. Until you can identify the local cadre and have them come over to the side of Thailand, nothing will change. Notice I did not say the side of the government, because the politicians caused the problem in the first place. All the people want is to do their business raise their children, practice their religion and for the government to leave them alone. They want the government to protect them from the corruption all around, the land grabbers, palm oil and rubber plantation, owned by influential people from outside or by foreign interest. wai.gif

The question has to be asked , what do you want, banners and graffiti or bombs going off.bah.gif

thailand should right the wrongs of the 1909 treaty and let these provinces have independence

Whoa... the last sentence threw me off....

Was the shooting related or just padding for the article?

thailand should right the wrongs of the 1909 treaty and let these provinces have independence

Ain't gonna happen brother.

The Thais should have gone long ago out of these annexed provinces. But as we all know, but Thai politicians do not learn, not even from history. They are led only by greed. They trade blood for the natural resources of the southern provinces, offshore and inland. The policy does not differ much from the behaving of the Indonesian army in Eastern New Guinea, though the stand of Thailand in the South is much weaker. I would like to have an enforced decision of the UN in both cases. But unluckily the UN is just a costly paper tiger.

We Should Salute Army Graffiti against Army is Bad do take some action and post in Thai visa makes us Happy

A number of duplicated posts have been removed.

P.S.: Drop the use of pr*fanities.

Right the wrongs of 1909....

The Thai government does it wrong......

Make the three provinces independent.......

Do we all, collectively, forget the religious part of the problem?

Do we all forget the obvious influences of "infiltrators" from the, probably, Arab world?

Do we all forget the Iranians coming on holidays and spending quality time in the south?

Just suppose the Thai government gives the provinces independence.

What will then happen with the other religions?

Just like Malaysia?

Or like Indonesia?

And which Muslim enclave in Thailand will next submit it's wishes for independence?

(Read: creating Islamic ground)

There is more going on around this problem as the eye meet.

And look around the world, everywhere the religion of peace that should be spread by the sword meets other religions: problems.

And this is not an infuriating post, just a realistic one.

I don't mean to be rude but Thaland handle it in peace method , look at Manymar how do the treat with those Rohinya people.

Thailand treat them as Thais as well and should be greatful and not in other ways
