Will Tea Drinking & Consequent Caffeine Intake Promote Weight Loss & Consequent Health Benefits?

Or, another way of putting this question: Why Do I Not See Too Many Fat Chinese or Thai Tea Drinkers Waddling Around?

Those that know me know that I am not the slimmest cat around the neighborhood.

Probably could not even slide through a picket fence if you paid me, or if I was chasing a kitty.

Well, I ain't that fat, just about 10Kg too much, if you weighed me without a stone.

(Why some use a stone to weigh people is beyond me, anyway, and not part of this topic, just do not use them when weighing.)

So I figure I might try something. Why not see if I drink good quality Chinese tea fairly constantly throughout the day, just sipping it as a complete replacement for all other beverages including water, like the Chinese do and used to do in the days of yore, if this might help me to loose some weight. It is definitely worth a try, and good quality tea is not as expensive as you might think, and there are vitamins in that tea, as well, and it just plain tastes fine, hot or iced in a tall glass, on any occasion.

I think that the secret to the drinking of tea for weight loss, or maintaining proper weight without gaining more weight, is the spaced out sippings throughout the whole day.

The reason this works is because caffeine, for me, seems to be a "natural" fairly effective appetite suppressant, a fact which I learned when I did not want to lose weight.

So I will try it, I will prepare a batch of tea by creating a pot of concentrated tea by adding many, many leaves to the pot and steeping the tea for a while with the tea leaves just left in the pot, and then pour out a small amount into a larger glass, and then dilute it back to the correct concentration which is most suitable to my taste.

If anyone here has any good ideas about preparing a concentrated pot of tea which can be poured out as I stated here, please have at it and provide your thoughts.

So then what are your ideas about the efficacy of drinking tea throughout the day to give your hands something to do besides eating, and your mouth something to do besides eating, and utilize the natural appetite suppressing effects of caffeine, which seems to work much like nicotine for me as an appetite suppressant, and, well.....

Do you think this is a good idea?

Do you think it will work?

Have you tried it?

It is not as if I am so fat that I am waddling around at this point,

But who can say what is in store for me in the future ---

It is no secret that I love Thai food, and the more the better, because each Thai dish is better than the last, and not strictly talking about just food dishes, either. But I am just saying that I could get fatter, and that I like Thai dishes so I probably will, and if I want to stay good in the sack, and so forth, I better start thinking about trimming my weight.

For cardiac health, and so forth.

There are more weight loss schemes available than there are ants in an ants nest !

Many of these schemes involve expenditure of hard earn't cash !

The only valid means of losing weight is to eat less and exercise more !

End of rant !smile.png

Of course I am saying what you have just more eloquently said.

My question is, can we use the drinking of tea throughout the day, and the intake of small doses of caffeine from the tea throughout the day, to make is less likely that we will eat as much as we wold otherwise normally eat?

I have found that this seems to be the case for me.

Also, the regular tea that you normally drink is all you need, if it has the caffeine, and is not sweetened or flavored, and things like dairy products are not added.

It is only the unsweetened tea that seems to have the desired effect for me.

But I am wondering about the thoughts of others who may have found this to be true.

And again, look at the Chinese who drink plenty of tea, or used to until they started drinking Coke and McD Shakes, and then they started to expand like balloons.

That might well work (a bit). Caffeine is well known in fitness/body building circles as an appetite suppressant and seems to assist in the fat burning process too.

Try to reduce/eliminate rice/noodles/simple carbs at the same time, and get most carbs needed from veggies (cooked and raw) with whatever protein source you prefer. Update us soon! Cheers!

Excessive caffeine intake can cause a host of problems and is not a good idea.

Drinking a great deal of any fluid, including simple water, during the day is often helpful in weight loss as it adds to fulness as well as satisying the need to put something in one's mouth. Of course, it needs to be a liquid which does not contain sugar. Plain water, soda water, water with a little lemon or lime juice added, herbal tea, all will work.

Green tea, which has t less caffeine than black tea as well as healthful antioxidants, contains substances thought to help with weight loss though one has to drink a lot of it for this to be so. Personally I have started drinking a full pot of green day every morning (and only in the mornings, not all day long) and it is definitely helpful.

Just don't go overboard.

I drink around 2 pots of green tea a day and can't say its a miracle cure. The only stuff that I do know to perform miracles are often banned and have loads of side effects. Tea does not have this so it stands to reason its effects will be subtle too.I drink it because its better as all the sweet stuff. Though I do drink a glas of 2 of a syrup heavily diluted too.

In the end its all about how much you eat.
