BANGKOK, July 29, 2013 (AFP) - Thai navy personnel battled Monday to clean up a beach on a popular tourist island after oil from a pipeline leak washed up in a national park.

Residents in 21 provinces warned of possible flash floods and mudslides

BANGKOK, 29 July 2013 (NNT)-The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned residents of 21 provinces in the North and North East of Thailand to brace for flash floods and mudslides until July 31st.


The DDPM issued a disaster warning for residents in the following provinces: Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Chiang Rai, Phrae, Phayao and Nan.

Residents in those provinces have been advised to be cautious and following the weather reports before leaving their homes. The DDPM provincial offices in the North and North East have been told to monitor the situation around the clock. Residents are encouraged to call the DDPM office for help at 1784.
