Hospitals - Social security card

Featured Replies

Hello!

I'm working in Bangkok and having my social security card/number there as well of course..

For basic treatments I can always use some hospitals in Bngkok for "free" with my social secure card...

What happend, if I'm staying/travelling maybe to Phuket for example and need to see a doctor/need to go to the hospital..

Which hospital can I go to in Phuket??

Thnx a lot

Your Social Security card should only be good at one hospital. That would be the hospital you were assigned to by the SS Office.

If you need emergency treatment when away from your assigned hospital, you pay first and try to get reimbursed afterwards.

or maybe........contact the SSO if you'd like to travel to another place.

They may allow you to attend another hospital for the time being.

"They may allow you to attend another hospital for the time being."

The hospital you've been assigned to would have to give their permission in writing first. That would be for anything other than an emergency.

The reason? SS pays them up front, so they will have to be willing to send some of that money to whatever hospital they've given permission to.

The amount they get per patient isn't much, so I don't think many places will be willing to lose any of it for the patients convenience.
