Nearly 20,000 homes in 7 provinces affected by flash floods

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has reported that nearly 20,000 familes in 7 provinces across Thailand have been affected by floods.


According to DDPM Director General Chatchai Promlert, 18,788 homes in Chiang Rai, Kanjanaburi, Tak, Nan, Payao, Sakon Nakorn and Prajinburi have been affected by flash floods as heavy rains continue raging across these provinces.

Provincial emergency units have been dispatched to the affected areas to provide help. Bags containing survival items have also been distributed to flood victims and further assistance will provided until the flood levels recede.

People living in the risk-prone areas have been urged to call for help at Hotline 1784 around the clock in case of emergency.

Koh Samet cries for help: The massive size of spill leaves Thailand ill-equipped

BANGKOK: -- The government admits to needing foreign help to continue cleaning efforts on Koh Samet and Rayong. Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Surawadi stated that Thailand is ill equipped to manage the spill alone and that foreign aide is now necessary.

PTT launches 'save the world' Line sticker campaign just days after causing oil spill

BANGKOK: -- Thai smartphone users were notified today that they could download a new set of environmental awareness stickers from PTT, the same company responsible for the massive oil spill in Koh Samet.
