Hi,

In a couple of months I will be moving to Thailand,

to get married to my lovely Thai fiancé.

She has a good job with a foreign company and is

making enough money to support both herself and me.

Of course I would like to get the 1 year extension for my Visa.

Do I still need to show the Thai immigration people,

that I have 400.000 bath or a good monthly income,

when I want to apply for this 1 year extension?

Thanks :o

Thanks for your reply lopburi3 :D

But I'm a bit confused.

The site says:

"If an alien is the supporter, he must submit financial evidence, proof of employment, work permit and tax receipts"

http://www.thaivisa.com/304.0.html

I am not the supporter.

and

"If you are married to a Thai citizen, you can easyly get a multiple entry visa in Penang.

Bring your Thai marriage certificate in original (and one copy) and check out our forum for more details."

It doesn't mention anything about the 400.000 etc.

:o

Btw: This one is about the Multiple Entry Visa, valid for 12 months.

Maybe I am mixing up this one with a different kind of 1 year visa, that I dont know about?

You better not tell that to Immigration! The "1 year extension for my Visa", is given on the ground "support Thai wife" --- there is no such thing as 1 year extensions (for a foreign male) merely on the grounds being married to a Thai. Most certainly, you'll not get much positive responce at any Thai authority for being a foreigner supported by a Thai.

The two quotes in your second post talk about two different things: The first one deals with requirements for incountry 1 year extensions of entry stamp - the second deals with requirements for getting a visa (a permit to enter) abroad.

Thanks for the info Rishi.

I'm not a supporter YET, cos I have to find a job in Thailand first.

We just want to be together asap, and as long as possible.

This forum thread says I dont need to have 400.000 bath to get a "multiple Non-Im-O" if I get it in Penang:

If anyone had a different experience in Penang, recently, then please let me know.

How are things in Cambodia right now btw?

threads don't necessarily mean anything, only thai law does. follow the law. anyway, since your lovely thai wife is supporting you, just tell her to hand over 400k, which you can then deposit to thai bank and capture your visa. sounds like a piece of cake

You dont need 400k to apply for and obtain the visa in Penang..........but this visa only entitles you to enter Thailand and stay for 90 days.

If you wish to stay longer than 90 days then you need to go to Immigration with your wife within Thailand and apply for a 1 year extension of stay..........its at this point you need to show the 400k.

Another option would be (on a mulitple entry Non Imm O visa ) to exit Thailand and re-enter for another 90 days stay.............this way you do not have to meet the 400k requirement.
