Depends as to what you define as 'not too expensive'

I stay at the Crown Princess, a 5 minute walk from the embassy.

Corus Hotel in Jalan Ampang, same road as embassy, book on the Net, much cheaper.

about Bt 2,000 on asiatravel.com.

Tatty breakfasts though.
