August 1, 201313 yr Recently there has been the jet-setting monk and a rapist monk, now there is animal-abuser monk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILpnfucEhaM&feature=youtu.be
August 1, 201313 yr Popular Post They are just human and altho most Thais think they are messengers of Buddha and infallible, they lie, steal, cheat, do harm to others just like the 'monks/priests' of all religions. It's 'religion' that corrupts and invites the hyprocracy and the weak willed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all religions!!,
August 1, 201313 yr Bloody hell - there can be no excuses or understanding for that level of cruelty.
August 1, 201313 yr Popular Post I never consider the dodgy bastards in the stories you read to be true monks. Much the same as me donning a white coat doesn't make me a real doctor.
August 1, 201313 yr But lets remember that some of these "monks" are just doing their time. Many Thais are only monks for 3 months in their lifetime--- just doing their time. Most do it when young, that is why you see so many boy monks.
August 1, 201313 yr Wifey says the monk got angry because the dog had been chewing the leg of a chair used by the head monk. Shocking to say the very least and hopefully there will be news of the consequences. Sent from my GT-I9003 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
August 1, 201313 yr That looks like wat na phra dhatu. From the area the vid was taken it seems as though this had been going on for a while. Good for the person who exposed this, and now begins the process of another temple investigation. There is no doubt in my mind the abbot knew of this, and now it is on YouTube for the world to see. The laypeople who attend, I imagine, are not only angry but embarrassed to be supporting them. .
August 1, 201313 yr Unwanted dogs around here are often beaten slowly to death with bamboo poles. No big deal. It's about time foreigners came to terms with the mentality you're dealing with here.
August 1, 201313 yr Popular Post Balancing act time....... Those that think that all Monks are reprehensible beings are just as wrong as those that give them undue merit. We can't tar everyone with the same brush, whether it's black or white.

It's about time foreigners came to terms with the mentality you're dealing with here. if we dont speak out about this cruelty , then it will go on forever , so now we can try to stop it by posting on line and other media outlets .maybe one day the animals will be safe in this country .
August 1, 201313 yr I don't get shocked much about these kind of things.. but that was awful. totster
August 1, 201313 yr I don't get shocked much about these kind of things.. but that was awful. totster Yeah mate that "thud" and howl made my skin crawl.
August 1, 201313 yr Animals should be treated with respect. When it is time to brutally murder them, it should be done as humanely as possible.
August 1, 201313 yr It's unreasonable to believe that any representative of any religion is a better person that any other normal person. All religions put up a nice facades when it comes to their representatives. Representatives are forced into roles that can't handle. Edited August 1, 201313 yr by kriswillems
August 1, 201313 yr Animals should be treated with respect. When it is time to brutally murder them, it should be done as humanely as possible. Ummm... bit of an oxymoron there ... totster
August 1, 201313 yr Popular Post I'd love to spend a couple of minutes with that "Monk" in a locked room. You perhaps need to explain a bit more... your motives might be misunderstood.
August 1, 201313 yr But isn't this the same debate that happened in the west with abusers in the church - and I recall the 'it could not happen here' attitude in the Thai press and indeed here on TV.
August 1, 201313 yr I'd love to spend a couple of minutes with that "Monk" in a locked room. You perhaps need to explain a bit more... your motives might be misunderstood. It would involve the monk, a staircase, and a lot of broken bones.

August 1, 201313 yr That's one of the sickest things I've seen. But kudos to the person who surreptiously filmed it. Thank you for exposing one very evil individual. We didn't need to see that, but then again we did. The decent, true monks must be in despair right now with what is happening in the monkhood.
