NZ dairy giant issues global botulism alert

Featured Replies

Not sure where or how to post this.

Not to panic, but possibly infants could be at risk.

Don't know how it is being handled in Thai language, or what risk in the Kingdom.

Please pass the word as appropriate.

New Zealand dairy giant issues global botulism alert 3 August, 2013

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-08-03/new-zealand-dairy-giant-issues-global-botulism-alert/4863344

Authorities in New Zealand have recalled up to 1,000 tonnes of dairy products across seven countries, including Australia, because of a contamination scare.

Key points
  • Strain of bacteria that can cause botulism found in some Fonterra products
  • Products had been exported to Australia, China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Vietnam
  • The affected product was used in a range of drinks including infant formula and sports drinks

Probably better to post it than not, err on the side of caution I would guess.

Thanks for posting. We bought formula for baby in Thailand 2 weeks ago. Small tin, but enough till we got home. Bought in Tops supermarket Khon kaen. She's finished it now but think it was Nan lactose free formula definitely from NZ. I'm stuck using my phone can someone tell me if that formula was ok? Suppose it was cause babies fine but I'd like to know if they recalled it.

Can someone post the brands associated with the recall please.

Thanks.
