Pattaya Police receive riot training as Bangkok Protests are set to begin

PATTAYA:--Street Protests against the current government are expected to begin on 7th August in Bangkok in front of the Parliament Building, and Police Officers around Thailand are being asked to volunteer themselves for anti-riot duty should they be required to back-up their Bangkok-based colleagues.

Police Colonel Supachai, the Chief of Banglamung Police, held a brief training session earlier this week attended by 50 Police Officers who have agreed to be part of the anti-riot squad.

The group received training in the use of batons should close-contact with rioters take place. For many of the officers, this was the first time they had used batons

Batons? might as well just give them peashooters...

How about 5,000 trained police officers, full face helmets, fire retardant uniforms, bullet proof jackets, riot shields, baseball bats, CS gas, rubber bullets, bird shot...

As a Trainer I can only say .........Uh ! Oh !

As a Sergeant that served on the streets of NI during the Hunger Strike riots I can see how nervous they are just posing for the cameras.....A couple of 10 year olds from Strabane would have them split up and running in all directions within minutes....
